Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig, the English actor, has been made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, the same honor bestowed to his popular fictional character James Bond.

The 54-year-old actor received the honor from Princess Anne, the daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, on Tuesday, October 18 during an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle for his services to film and theater.

The announcement was made via The Royal Family’s official Twitter account, which tweeted a photo of Craig along with the film’s famous quote.

In 1818, Prince Regent, King George IV established the CMG order. It is the sixth-highest honor in the British system of awards.

The CMG is frequently bestowed upon men and women who hold significant positions or who have rendered outstanding or considerable non-military service to the United Kingdom in a foreign country.

It may, however, be given upon persons who have rendered notable or loyal service in international and Commonwealth issues.

Daniel Craig co-starred in the film with the late Queen Elizabeth II

In the opening montage of the 2012 London Olympic Games, Daniel Craig appeared as 007 with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In the footage, Daniel Craig’s James Bond character is summoned to Buckingham Palace to accompany the Queen to the Olympic Games. The stunt doubles are then depicted jumping from a helicopter and parachuting into the arena.

According to Hello! Magazine, Angela Kelly, the Queen’s adviser, writes in her book in 2019 about how she pitched the proposal to the late queen filmmaker Danny Boyle.

“I recall Danny’s surprise at how fast I approached Her Majesty, but there’s no point in lingering over such matters: if she said no, that was the end of it.”

She stated that the Queen was “very pleased” and immediately consented to the idea, but she desired more than just her appearance on film.

“I then questioned whether she desired a speaking part. ‘Of course, I must say something,’ Her Majesty responded without hesitation. He is, after all, on his way to help me.'”

Daniel Craig has portrayed James Bond in five films, commencing in 2006 with Casino Royale and concluding in 2021 with No Time To Die. In The Power of One, he made his acting debut as Sgt. Botha in 1992.

Craig subsequently appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Anglo-Saxon Attitudes, Zorro, Genghis Khan, Our Friends in the North, The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, Love & Anger, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Enduring Love, and Dream House.
