Daria, Daniil’s wife, is his current wife. She had been his long-term girlfriend for four years until they married in Moscow in September 2018. His wife has been a continual source of encouragement and has assisted him in advancing his career. She used to play tennis and was once ranked among the top 100 junior players in the world. Daniil began his career in 2015 when he won his first match in a Doubles event at the Kremlin Cup. In 2016, he made his singles debut at the Nice Open but lost to Guido Pella. In the same season, he defeated Horacio Zeballos in the 2016 Ricoh Open to win his first-ever ATP singles title. He reached the ATP singles final the following year, however, Roberto Bautista Agut defeated him in the final with a 6-3, 6-4 score. In 2017, he won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon, defeating Stan Wawrinka. He won the Sydney International Finals the following year, becoming the youngest ATP tournament champion since 2007.
In the same year, he won the 2018 Winston-Salem Open ATP final for the second time. In Tokyo, he won his third title, putting him at number 22 in the world and first in Russia. He rose to the level of 16 later that year. In the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters in 2019, he defeated then-world number one Novak Djokovic for the first time and continued his winning ways in the Rodger Cup, where he defeated the top ten players. He rose to world number five and began the 2019 US Open, where he maintained his form and won multiple matches. He lost at the ATP Cup and the Australian Open in 2020, after which the season was halted due to Covid 19.
Daniil Medvedev returned and lost in the semi-finals to Dominic Thiem, but in the 2020ATP finals, he won all three matches and became the first player to defeat the top three players in the world. In the second half of the ATP finals in 2021, he maintained his form and won multiple matches. Medvedev went on to win the Australian Cup, his second grand slam final appearance. He also won his first Open 13 title, putting him in the world’s top two. Daniil was unable to compete in the 2021 Monte Carlo Open due to a positive COVID19 test. He returned later in the season and lost the first match of the Halle Open 2021 to J.Struff.
