Trang was born in Saint Paul, Alberta, in October 1989. She is a Vietnamese woman’s daughter. Following the Vietnam War, they escaped to Canada.
Trang shared on her Instagram story in November 2018 how her sister and dad had to go through extremely unsafe conditions to get to Canada. Darah was only a newborn at the time. She and the other siblings were well-provided for by her parents.
