Because they were both co-owners of DCN Creative, legal issues arose following their divorce. On April 4, 2020, Newman sued her ex-husband for five domain names: darleynewman.com, darleynewman.org, equitrekking.com, equitrekking.org, and travelswithdarley.com.
According to Newman, Ward has no rights or legitimate interests in the Domain Names, and they should be transferred to her as part of the divorce settlement. Ward responded by stating that he was still an owner and had never worked for DCN. He also claimed that the Domain Names he registered were owned by him or his organization, Lambda. However, Newman’s lawsuit was dismissed in a judgment issued on July 7, 2020.
