Dave Chappelle Will Return To The Cast Of “Saturday Night Live” As A Host

Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle will serve as the show’s host once more on November 12, 2022. For the third time, Dave will be the series’ host. After a historic US election, the comedian will host SNL with musical performer Black Star.

This is crucial in light of Dave’s propensity for making ‘witty’ assessments of the political landscape. Immediately following Donald Trump’s election as president, on November 12, 2016, Chappelle made his first appearance on Saturday Night Live. He then made an appearance on Saturday Night Live following Joe Biden’s victory over Trump.

While many people are happy to have him back, others hold opposing opinions. On Twitter, a user of social media wrote:

Is it Dave once more? The last time, he wasn’t funny. #SNL.”

The two-year absence of Dave Chappelle from Saturday Night Live has divided internet users.

Comedian Amy Schumer was the first to announce Chappelle’s return to the show. The show’s Twitter account posted an official tweet today, November 6, 2022, further confirming Chapelle’s return. Following that, internet users turned to social media to express their feelings over Chapelle’s return. One social media user claimed:

“Saturday Night Live is my favorite. I’ve always enjoyed it. It is not a smart idea to have Dave Chappelle as the host, though. You cast a proud and outspoken transphobe after casting your first non-binary actor. What a bummer, oh my.

“Dave Chappelle is among the best comics working now,” But from the comments, all I can see is salt. After years of pandering to these people, SNL gets this. People like me are watching Saturday Night Live even with this guest. Just laughing, I say.

Along with political humor, Chappelle is well known for frequently making jabs at the trans community, which has in the past gotten him into difficulty. As stated in a user comment:

“It’s not cool for #SNL to give the transphobe Dave Chappelle a platform.”

Because to comments he made in the Netflix special The Closer in 2021 regarding the transgender community, Dave was fired from Netflix at the request of the staff. Contrarily, Chappelle refused to retract his remarks from the show, saying:

“I spoke precisely as I did. I was reportedly requested to speak to a transgender employee at Netflix, but I declined. That is untrue—I would have agreed if they had asked, though I’m not sure what we would have talked about.
