Culley began his coaching career as the running backs coach at Austin Peay State University. Culley was born and raised in Sparta, Tennessee. He was a basketball point guard, baseball pitcher, and football quarterback at White County High School. Culley has been named wide receivers coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Culley then became a quarterbacks coach at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette.
