Goggins always wanted to join the United States Air Force Pararescue but unfortunately, he failed twice in his ASVAB before succeeding and entering into ‘The Pipeline’ which is a Pararescue training program. He also became a member of TACL which is the United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party.

He served his time in TACP and left the United States Air Force. In 2001, Goggins graduated from BUD/S training with Class 235. After graduation, he was assigned to “SEAL Team five “ who served in Iraq.

Marathon and Ultramarathon

In 2005, Goggins entered a 24-hour ultramarathon which was held at Hospitality Point in San Diego. He ran the 100 miles in under 19 hours the San Diego, although he never had run a marathon before.

In 2006 Badwater-135, he managed to get 5th overall, at a world-class event which was, in fact, an unheard-of result from an ultramarathon novice.

Goggins has taken part in numerous long-distance endurance events and ultra-marathons such as the Las Vegas Marathon and the Badwater-135 Ultramarathon, where he secured his place highly. In 2006, he competed in the Ultraman World Championships Triathlon which was held in Hawaii. He was second in the three-day, 320-mile race, cycling 261 miles in two days on a rented bicycle.

In 2007, Goggins got his best finish of all times at the Badwater-135 and placed 3rd overall. He took a break from the event since 2008 then returned to the Badwater-135 in 2013, where he finished 18th.

In 2012, he joined a competition to do most pull-ups in 24 hours where he tried to break the world record. Unfortunately, he failed due to an injury on his left palm.

However, in January 2013, he finally broke the world record in most pull-ups done in 24 hours by completing 4.025 pull-ups in 17 hours. Goggins also gives motivational speeches.

In 2018, David released, Can’t Hurt Me, his self-help memoir. It includes his childhood difficulties like poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse. He turned his bad days into a positive thing to look back and learn from it.

In 2015, he came 5th place in Hellgate 100k. David is also a Guinness World Record for 24 Hour Pullup in 2013. In 2008, he won many competitions including Kona Ironman World Championship, Ultra-Trail Du Mont-Blanc 103 mile, McNaughton 150 Miler, MiWok 100k Race.

In 2006, he was in 2nd place for Ultraman World Championship and Badwater Ultra Marathon. He also came 2nd place in San Diego One Day (24 Hours, 100 miles) in the year 2005.
