Many wonder whether David Mabuza’s sickness had anything to do with his abrupt retirement from the parliament, or if there was another factor.
Reputable South African politician David Mabuza, often known as David Dabede “DD” Mabuza, served as deputy president from February 2018 until February 2023.
From 2009 to 2018, he presided over Mpumalanga for the whole term of his old political comrade Jacob Zuma.
Similarly, the public servant served as the African National Congress vice president from December 2017 until December 2022. Mabuza served as a member of parliament from 2018 until his resignation in 2023.
Mabuza has been labeled as a populist politician. Ramaphosa became the nation’s president when Zuma resigned in February 2018, appointing Mabuza as his national vice president.
David mabuza’s Condition and Well-Being Update
A source claims that David Mabuza’s excellent health has nothing to do with his decision to leave the parliament due to sickness.
In the past, nevertheless, the lawmaker had a month-long illness and thereafter expressed gratitude for his continued health.
Sowetanlive reported that Mabuza became very unwell and that it was revealed from the medical records that he had been poisoned while on duty.
In an interview, David said that in August, at his birthday festivities in Bushbuckridge, he let his guard down and got meals from unidentified sources.
According to the ANC chairperson for Mpumalanga, he was barely conscious and on the verge of collapse.
Only when he was admitted to Life Little Company of Mary Hospital in Pretoria did doctors arrive at a diagnosis.
Mabuza then started getting therapy from his Pretoria physicians, which caused the poison to progressively leave his body.
Records show that the politician is still suffering from poisoning and is unable to endure for an extended amount of time. He is pain-free because he continues to undergo rigorous therapy every day after work.
Subsequently, David made headlines once again when he claimed that the South African government had not reimbursed him for his medical care when he was hospitalized in Russia.
Mabuza’s medical problems have long caused his trips to Russia for treatment to be viewed with suspicion.
What Made David Mabuza Step Down?
Contrary to popular belief, David Mabuza’s sickness was not the primary cause of his departure from the parliament.
David Mabuza, the deputy president, reportedly withdrew his name from the National Assembly on Tuesday, according to DailyMaverick.
At the start of the month, the outgoing deputy president made his departure from the position known.
Speaking at his brother’s funeral in Mpumalanga, Mabuza said he wanted to make space for the newly elected ANC deputy president, Paul Mashatile.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, had earlier said that Mabuza would resign from his position after all the necessary preparations for his departure had been completed.
The delays surrounding the Cabinet change gave rise to rumors that Ramaphosa’s close friends were preventing Mashatile from progressing further. The African National Congress secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, has maintained that the process of the reshuffle is lawful.
On behalf of the government and people of South Africa, President Ramaphosa has sent his thanks and appreciation to Vice President Mabuza for his outstanding service to the country over the last five years.
Mabuze, a certified teacher from rural Mpumalanga, first became involved in politics as a student by joining the Black Consciousness movement and then working for teachers’ unions.
From 1988 to 1991, David served as the head of the South African Democratic Teachers Union, a well-known branch of the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
After apartheid ended in 1994, Mabuza was elected to serve as an ANC representative in the provincial legislature of Mpumalanga.
