David attended Owasso High School, where he set a school record with a 5-0 record, a 1.18 ERA, and 58 strikeouts in 42.1 innings as a senior in 2019. With five complete games, he got a toss and a save. In 2019, he was chosen by Oklahoma coaches for the Association All-State Game. Coach Larry Turner guided him through his high school games.

David attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and remained loyal to the Oklahoma Sooners. In total, he went 9-2 with one save in 13 appearances in 2021. (along with 11 starts). He set records and had a 3.18 ERA while striking out 100 batters in 65.0 innings.
David played at EOSC as a freshman in 2020 and set another record with a 1-0 record, 16 strikeouts, and 13 innings pitched during the shorter COVID-19 season, where he was coached by Matt Parker.

The College World Series will take place from June 14th to June 27th, 2022. On June 22, 2022, David pitched 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, and one run, and struck out 12, helping the Sooners defeat Texas A&M 5-1 and advance to the national championship game.
