The renowned British actor David Warner passed away on Sunday, July 24, according to his family. He was 80 years old. Warner purportedly passed away at Denville Hall in Northwood, London, a healthcare and assisted living home. Numerous British celebrities have passed away in the hospital. His family sent a statement, in which they said:

His legacy of incredible work has touched the lives of many over the years, and we, his family, and friends will grieve him greatly. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted, gentle, and kind guy, spouse, and dad. We are heartbroken.

Warner has more than 60 years of experience acting on stages, in TV shows, and in movies, including roles in Disney’s 1982 hit Tron as Ed Dillinger, Sark, and The Master Control Program.

The 80-year-old actor was also well-known for his 1999 performance as Spicer Lovejoy in Titanic. He was given the role of Admiral Boom in Mary Poppins Returns by Disney in 2018. Luke, the actor’s son, and his longtime partner Lisa Bowerman was left behind.

David Warner’s family said in a statement to the BBC that the late actor had been battling sickness for some time. According to the statement, the actor was given a cancer diagnosis eighteen months before he passed away.

According to a statement from David Warner’s family:

“During the past 18 months, he accepted his prognosis with his normal grace and dignity.”

Although the family did not specify the type or stage of cancer, it is assumed to have been advanced. The 80-year-old native of Manchester was identified as having a terminal illness either in early January of last year or in late December of 2020, according to the family statement.

A barrage of tweets honoring the late actor David Warner appeared when news of his passing filtered through UK-based media outlets.

Many famous people expressed their sympathies to Warner and thanked him for his efforts in the industry on Twitter. Many celebrities, including director Edgar Wright, comic book writer Rob Liefeld, actor Michael McKean, and others, paid tribute to the late actor.

Some fans lauded his performance in movies like 1966’s Morgan: A Suitable Case For Treatment and 1976’s horror classic The Omen in addition to his most well-known roles in Tron and Titanic.

Warner gained notoriety in the 1970s by acting in a variety of horror roles. He has already contributed to horror classics including Nightwing (1979), Waxwork (1988), and Tripwire in addition to The Omen (1990).

Warner also became a well-known face to Star Trek fans because of his roles as Chancellor Gorkon, St. John Talbot, and Gul Madred in the Star Trek series. The DC villain Ra’s al Ghul’s well-known voice were also delivered by Warner for Batman: The Animated Series in the 1990s and Batman: Beyond in the 2000s.
