The multi-award-winning film “Lola Igna,” which tells the story of an old woman who waits to die so she may be with her husband, used her story in its plot.
When she finds that she could be the oldest person alive, things start to shift. The mayor of Lola’s small, rural community believes she may surpass all previous grandmothers in terms of longevity.
But to everyone’s amazement, when asked what she wants out of life, she replies that she wants to die. She explained to Tim, her great-grandson, why she wanted to die.
Igna confessed to him that she wanted to die because she was tired of going to people’s funerals, especially because she had lived longer than a lot of the mothers she had assisted in childbirth.
As the media’s interest in her waned after another person was named the oldest living grandma, the movie never mentions her passing.
How old is Nida’s grandmother, according to Lola Igna’s biography?
The biography of Nida’s grandmother is discussed in the Wikipedia article for the film with the same name, “Lola Igna”. In the film, it was claimed that she was 118 years old.
Grandma Lola Igna, who was 118 years old, was vibrant, happy, and even courageous for her years. She was a farmer who was 100 years old and lived by herself in a hut on her rice field.
Igna’s granddaughter Nida makes the most of her grandmother’s sudden notoriety by peddling themed things starring her as Igna struggles to go about her everyday activities and fend off throngs of reporters and visitors at her home.
One day, she uses the restroom in front of a young guy and discovers that he is Tim, her great-grandson from her estranged another granddaughter Ana, who left home after a disagreement with Nida years ago.
Lola sobs in front of Tim after going to a wake and saying that she wants to die because she is sick of going to people’s funerals.
Tim realizes how awful the situation is and decides to carry on with his great-grandmother’s coffin despite Nida’s protests.
He shows visitors and well-wishers how to use his technological apparatus while Lola Igna opens up to them. When Ana becomes pregnant later, she makes peace with Nida and takes her son and grandmother on a trip.
Ana gives birth again after a healthy delivery next to the ricefield, but when she sees Carias, she dies. Lola Igna, however, makes use of her casket for Ana’s burial.
The media’s interest in Lola Igna starts to diminish when another woman overtakes her as the oldest living grandma and town life returns to normal. Tim is still residing on Igna’s farm and caring for her sister.
