The eldest son of the late Odia actor Mihir Das, Aklant Das, passed away on Tuesday night.
Initial reports state that Aklant’s funeral ceremonies took place at the Sati Choura cremation in Cuttack on January 26.
He had spent the previous month seeking care at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for a liver problem.
Previously, Mihir Das, Aklant’s father, passed away in January 2022 while getting care at a Cuttack private hospital. According to reports, Mihir had renal issues for a long time. He was put on mechanical ventilation after being taken to a private hospital in Cuttack.

At the time of his death, Mihir Das’s net worth was reportedly $20 million.
He made his Odia film debut in 1979 with the artistic production School Master, which was followed by the mainstream (non-art) movie Mathura Bijay. He garnered a lot of praise and appreciation for his role in Pua Mora Bholashankar.
For his roles in the movies Laxmi Protima in 1998 and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni in 2005, he won the state government’s Best Actor award. He has been an actor for almost three decades.

Death of Mihir Das’ son: how did Aklant Das pass away?
The younger son of the late Odia actor Mihir Das, Aklant Das, passed away overnight while undergoing treatment. Due to liver issues, he had spent a month in the hospital.
Aklant was getting care and had spent the previous five to six days in the intensive care unit, according to a family member. He was doing better, but about nine o’clock yesterday, they received word from the physicians that he had passed away.
Alman, Aklant’s older brother, reportedly learnt of the former’s untimely passing when he was in Balugaon for a movie shoot.

According to another relative, Mihir Das raised his children as both a father and a mother after his wife passed away. Aklant’s ability to heal and go home had been everyone’s dream. But he passed away at a much earlier age.

On February 11, 1959, Mihir Kumar Das was born in Mayurbhanj.
Mihir Das was raised in the Ganjam area when his father moved there for job from Baripada to Chatrapur. Despite being the youngest son in the family, he received the same level of devotion as other children.
During his time in school, he needed to show greater enthusiasm for his coursework. In order to induce his parents to let him skip school, he often threatened them with diving into their well.
Sangita Das, a musician and filmmaker who passed away in 2010 after a heart attack, was married to Mihir. Her father was well-known vocalist Chitta Jena. Amlan Das and Aklant Das, the two sons of Mihir Das and Sangita Das, are also actors.
