Dennis Schroder, one of Europe’s most skilled basketball players, has established himself as a match-winner in the NBA. Following a rollercoaster ride, the German native is now a vital contributor to the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, the game has provided him with much more than just a career. The athlete has also witnessed numerous joyous events, including the birth of his child and the marriage of his child’s mother.

Dennis Schroder was born on September 15, 1993, in Braunschweig, Germany, to Axel Schroder and Fatou Schroder. He has two older stepbrothers.
Axel first met Fatou while on vacation in Banjul, Gambia. Their romance took off right away once they met.
Soon after Fatou’s visit to Axel in Germany, Axel persuaded her to go to Braunschweig with her two children, Awa and Che. She agreed, and the two married.
Dennis’s upbringing in Germany as a black Muslim was difficult. He went to school and was one of just two black students. Growing up, he and his older sister and brother, Awa and Che, were subjected to a slew of discriminatory practices.
However, the discrimination did not prevent him from doing what he desired: playing basketball. Dennis grew obsessed with basketball when his father died. He even gave up his time at the skatepark because he had a rigorous schedule that included school and basketball.
Dennis Schroder- Relationship, Married Life
Dennis is married to Ellen Schroder, formerly Ellen Ziolo. The NBA player initially met Ellen in 2018 and fell in love with her right away. The couple met in August 2018 and it didn’t take long for them to realize they were suited for each other.
Schroder and Ellen’s son is even another reason to feel they were created for each other. Dennis Malick Schroder Jr., the couple’s first child, was born on February 19, 2019. Dennis Jr. was born just five months before their wedding, giving Dennis and Ellen even more motivation to strengthen their already strong bond.
In July 2019, the pair married at Richmond Castle in Braunschweig, Germany. Their family and friends were present during the ceremony.
Dennis and Ellen had intended to have a simple wedding, but due to Dennis’ African family, this proved impossible. The wedding ceremony, which was originally intended for 50 individuals, was attended by more than 350 people.
On August 3, 2020, the family of three welcomed a new member. Dennis and his wife had their second child, a daughter named Imalia Aaliyah. Ellen Ziolo announced the good news on Instagram.
The family is now living happily ever after. There are no rumors about the relationship, and we hope that remains the case for a long time.
Career and College
Dennis began his ascension to the top of the basketball world in his native country. He began his professional career with the SG Braunschweig, a development squad of the Phantoms Braunschweig of Germany.
Dennis, however, decided to advance his career after three years with the Phantoms from 2010 to 2013. As a result, he was declared for the 2013 NBA Draft and was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks.
Schroder played for the Hawks for five years, becoming an important member of the club. However, he moved on from there in 2018 and joined the Oklahoma City Thunder. He currently represents the Los Angeles Lakers. Dennis has played for the German National Basketball Team in addition to his club career.
His Parents: Success Foundations
Axel and Fatou Schroder have played a significant role in shaping Dennis into the player he is today. His father, Axel, was the one who persuaded him to become a basketball player. Dennis discovered a letter written by Axel a few weeks after his death. It brought back memories of their discussion about what a basketball career could mean for him and the entire Schroder family. Schroder soon set out to fulfill his father’s expectations of him.
Then there was his mother, Fatou Schroder, who urged him to stand out and test the boundaries. She wanted her children, especially Dennis, to succeed despite the challenges that their heritage presented.
Signature Haircut
Schroder has one of the NBA’s most striking hairstyles. In addition, the hairdo has an intriguing backstory. Dennis’ mother had requested that he acquire a trendy haircut. Fatou, a hairdresser, persuaded Dennis to color his full head of hair blonde.
He didn’t dye his entire head, but he did agree to a little spot above his left temple. To this day, the patch is his defining look. Fatou advised him to do so for him to stand out in the racially charged society in which he was growing up.
Dennis’s Age and Other Interesting Facts
Dennis is of German origin, but he also has Gambian ancestors on his mother’s side. Schroder stands 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 meters) tall and has a wingspan of 6 feet 7 inches.
Dennis got into a fight with another NBA player, Andrew Wiggins, in January 2019. During a postgame interview, Andrew allegedly stated that Dennis was “simply queer.” Wiggins, on the other hand, rejected the charges on Twitter, emphasizing his love for the LGBTQ community.
