Derek Draper became ill with COVID-19 in March 2020 and was hospitalized in a critical care unit. He was placed in an induced coma and placed on a ventilator there.
The former lawmaker was left with several health problems, including organ damage. His heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys were all impacted by the condition.
