Donald Hilton Health And Illness Before Death

In October 2022, Derrick, the head coach of the men’s varsity basketball team at Socastee High School, received a cancer diagnosis.

He received therapy, but his health only got worse, and he passed away.

Hilton had a battle with kidney cancer.

If presented with such difficulty, many individuals would have stopped, yet Coach took the news well.

When he learned he had cancer, his first thoughts were of his children, family, friends, pupils, and players rather than dwelling on his future.

Those who knew him were not surprised by his altruism since he never worried about himself and always had others in mind.

The terrible news that the disease had spread to his hips and lungs and reached stage four was communicated by medical specialists.

When the neighborhood heard about Hilton’s prognosis, they came together to support him.

Students, employees, and a nearby church came together to collect money for his medical costs.

The Palmetto Pointe Church of God graciously contributed almost $30,000 to Hilton’s cancer treatment in April.

In October 2022, a GoFundMe account was started to help pay for his medical expenses.

Derrick was a parent to three kids in addition to his coaching responsibilities.

He loved being everyone’s spouse, son, brother, uncle, and close friend.

Although he was unable to realize his goal of playing in the NBA, his role as coach of the men’s varsity basketball team at Socastee High School gave him a larger chance to influence and mentor future players.
