Lewis kept competing when he ultimately left the hospital. Lewis was removed from the card when UFC officials had to postpone the main event. The announcement was made official by the UFC Vegas 65 broadcast team.

Lewis, 37, had just suffered back-to-back knockout defeats to Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich; this was a huge chance for him to restore momentum.

It will take a bit longer for the “Black Beast” to get back to the Octagon. If whatever ailment prevents him from taking part in the walk this weekend gets better.

Following the postponement of Lewis vs. Spivak, the light heavyweight contest between Ion Cutelaba and Kennedy Nzechukwu will now serve as the main event of UFC Vegas 65.

Early Years Lewis was reared by a single mother in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the second eldest of seven children. He struggled and regularly got into street fights as a kid.

In 1998, Lewis’ family relocated to Houston, Texas. When Lewis was 17 years old, he began boxing training. He was preparing for his first amateur fight when the gym unexpectedly shuttered.

Two weeks after getting his high school graduation, Lewis was placed on probation and accused of severe assault.

Two years later, Lewis violated his probation while attending Kilgore College on a full football scholarship. Although he received a five-year term, he only spent three and a half of years in jail.

A week after being released, Lewis began working as a tow truck driver and taking George Foreman’s boxing lessons.

Additionally, a friend introduced him to mixed martial arts. After winning his first professional bout handily, Lewis made the decision to focus on mixed martial arts.
