The death of Deverin King in a motorbike accident has generated a lot of internet controversy.
Deverin attended Evangel University as a student. Coaches from Evangel University honor King, a student there who passed away at the age of 18 after being struck by a motorbike at the intersection of Glenstone and Chestnut in Springfield.
King’s high school football and track coach, Shem Johnson, recalled being stunned and in amazement when he learned of his passing.

The biker, Deverin King, an 18-year-old Springfield native, was killed in the collision on Glenstone Avenue, south of Chestnut Expressway.
At 3:08 on Thursday, the incident was reported to Springfield police. When the crash happened, Villalobos Chico’s Ford Explorer was leaving a parking lot.
King passed away at the site despite efforts to save his life. When Villalobos Chico, a 50-year-old Springfield resident, was driving an orange 2004 Ford Explorer Sport northbound on Glenstone Avenue, King was traveling on a green 2005 Yamaha motorbike.

The Ford Explorer Sport was heading south when the crash happened on Glenstone.
Although the inquiry is continuing, there is no indication that intoxication played a part in the collision. Chico, the only person in the SUV, did not sustain any wounds.
His family and friends have received sympathy messages from others. “Ride Safe,” “Gone Too Soon,” and other encouraging remarks have been left in response to his images online by viewers.
Reaction to Thursday’s tragic accident involving Deverin King
Numerous members of the neighborhood, including friends, family, other students, and staff, have expressed their sorrow and support in response to the occurrence and the fact that King was a student at Evangel University.
At Evangel University, Deverin was remembered as a kind, considerate, and gifted athlete. Such statements about King imply that he was well-liked and respected in the neighborhood.
Losing someone so young and full of potential is never easy, and it is obvious that King’s passing has left a vacuum in the lives of those who knew him.
Shem Johnson, the high school coach of King, said, “Honestly, I felt right to my knees,” I found it hard to believe.
Coach Johnson and Deverin were great friends and respected one another; Johnson thought of King as his son. Johnson said that King had a life that was unchangeable.
We really became close, Johnson remarked. In the end, I regarded him as a son since nothing we accomplished could have been better.
Out of a student-athlete, he said, “Out of a young man who would just live life the way you want to.”
He was described as someone who valued his family and friends above all else and was always there to help them.He was also renowned for his altruism in assisting others, even when it meant giving up his job.
