Devyn Keith: Is He Arrested?

Devyn Keith was incarcerated for allegedly stealing merchandise from a Walmart on University Drive. On the day of his arrest, he was, however, freed.

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) sent officers to 6140 University Drive at 1 p.m. on February 2, 2023, in response to an unrelated incident.

Officers were informed of a shoplifting incident at the nearby Walmart store while they were already on the site.

Devyn Keith, a council member since 2016, was recognized as the shoplifter.

Without incident, Keith was taken into custody and lodged in the Madison County Jail.

At 5:34 p.m. on the same day, following the arrest and preliminary investigation, police released Keith.

The following day, Keith posted a Facebook statement addressing the circumstance.

He made it clear that he had exited Walmart following a self-checkout. He had a $20 pair of headphones in his cart, but he didn’t pay for them.

Many others responded to the comment by relating to the circumstance and confessing that they occasionally forget to pay for products at a self-checkout.

Following the accusation of theft, Keith has received support from his friends and well-wishers.

Recent news of fresh theft accusations against Councilman Keith came from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
