At 10 am, Brittany Murphy passed out on the bathroom floor and was sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles; on December 20, 2022, it was revealed that she had passed away. The actress passed away when she was 32 years old.
Her husband Simon and her mother Sharon broke the news to the world after discovering her on the bathroom floor when they were cohabitating.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, and over two months later the report was released with information on the cause of Murphy’s death.
According to a report from February 2010, she passed away from pneumonia, with secondary causes including acute iron deficiency anemia and drug abuse.
Although drugs and medications were discovered in her body, they were not the only factors contributing to her demise.
On December 24, 2009, Murphy’s remains were interred with her husband Simon, and other members of her close family at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
Following the publication of the news, her mother and husband said that she was not abusing drugs and that she had already passed away from a drug overdose. They also indicated that she may pass away from mitral valve prolapse, a disease of the heart.

The Health Department thought that hazardous mold in their home could have been a contributing factor in the couple’s deaths when the cause of their deaths became the same for both the husband and wife.
Sharon Murphy, Brittany Murphy’s mother, reversed course and claimed that deadly mold was to blame for her daughter and son-in-law’s death in December 2011.
Sharon sued the lawyers who had previously defended her in a case against the house builders.
Before Simon Monjack passed away, Murphy’s mother, Sharon, and he founded the Brittany Murphy Foundation.
A nonprofit organization that supports the USO, cancer research, and children’s arts education is the Brittany Murphy Foundation.
