On October 31, 2022, Laney Chantal passed away in Milford, Michigan. In a public obituary, her family announced the tragic news and said that she had “struggled with several mental illnesses throughout her adult life.”
The only information the family gave about her death was that it was “an accidental drug overdose.”
The Parkhurst family asked for contributions to a group named The Brain & Behavior Research, noting the lifelong difficulties their daughter had with her mental health. Both bipolar illness (BPD) and addiction have been identified in her.
On her Instagram account six months before she passed away, Laney shared a picture of a pink casket being buried.
Gabriella Accarino, a fellow makeup artist, offered Laney respect and referred to her as her “sister and soulmate,” praising her for her kindness, artistry, and lovely personality.

Alaina Chantal Parkhurst, better known as Laney Chantal, was born on February 20, 1989. She was born and reared in Manitou Beach, Michigan, and after high school relocated to Los Angeles.
Thomas and Linda Parkhurst are her parents. She was raised with her two older sisters, Laurel Parkhurst and Shanna Navarre.
Julian Wilkins, Aiden Navarre, and Kenny Parkhurst were her three other nephews.
As a young child, Laney became interested in basketball, skating, soccer, and music. She enrolled at the Cinema Make-Up School, and in 2010 she earned her degree in prosthetic fabrication, sculpting, and cosmetics.
Laney then began to develop makeup styles, special effects, and monsters for movies and music videos. She created makeup for Shia LaBeouf, Lil Nas X, Evan Rachael Wood, and Marilyn Manson as well as horror masks for other metal artists.
The Face Off cosmetics competition’s sixth season included the 33-year-old as well. Despite making it to the final, Laney quit because she was no longer enjoying herself.
“Alaina put her whole self, body, mind, and soul into her jobs, no matter the size,” said her obituary. It spoke about how she immediately distinguished herself from other artists in her area thanks to her creative talent and visions.
