The singer, whose true name is Tijs Michiel Verwest, made the announcement alongside photos of Annika from the recent 64th Annual Grammy Awards, when she proudly displayed her growing baby bump on the red carpet. In one picture, Tijs put his hand on Annika’s stomach; in another, he kissed it.
Model Annika Backes, who was born on September 7, 1996, is most known for being DJ Tiesto’s spouse. The native of Colorado, who frequently travels to various locations for work, is represented by Elite Model Management. She has appeared on the covers of magazines like Luxuriant and Inlove and walked the runway at important fashion events like NYC Fashion Week.
A talent scout discovered her in a mall, and she has picked Alexander Wang as her favorite designer. Backes was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and is 25 years old. At the Catch restaurant in New York City, Annika and Tijs first ran into one other in 2015. In 2018, over the Thanksgiving holiday, they became engaged, and Backes revealed to Vogue:
After a few months of friendship, we decided the day before Coachella that we were going to go together. We had the best time exploring the event all weekend long, just the two of us. We both understood when we didn’t tire of one another even after returning to New York City and still didn’t want to be apart.
Viola Margreet Verwest, the couple’s first child, is due in November 2020 after their 2019 wedding. In the same month, the couple posted pictures of their baby on social media to make her first public appearance.
