Fred Talbot, who is unmarried, asserts that he came to the realization he was homosexual at the tender age of 14.

Talbot was apprised that he must complete a minimum of 2.5 years of incarceration prior to being deemed eligible for parole.
Fred Talbot appeared in a Scottish court on March 11, 2016, where he was indicted on ten new counts of indecent assault and two counts of breach of peace spanning the years 1968 to 1981.
Throughout the hearing, he maintained silence. In May 2017, Talbot, who taught at Altrincham Grammar, was convicted of seven counts of indecent assault against boys that transpired during his travels to Scotland.
Following the completion of half of his prior term for indecent assault, he was admonished at Lanark Sheriff Court on June 15, 2017, to a term of four years in correctional facility, commencing on August 14.
Fred Talbot was sentenced to eight months in prison on November 29, 2017, for a second instance of sexual assault against a man older than sixteen, subsequent to his admission of guilt at a prior hearing.
The incarceration of Talbot was completed in December 2019.
