In 1992, he married Kerstin Emhoff, an American film producer and the CEO of the Prettybird production business. Ella Emhoff and Cole Emhoff are the couple’s two children. Douglas began his legal career at Pillsbury Winthrop, where he worked as an Entertainment Litigator. After a few years, he went to work for Belin Rawlings & Badal, a boutique law company. He and Ben Whitwell, a seasoned litigator, founded their firm in 2000, which was eventually acquired by Venable LLP in 2006. His clients included Walmart and Merck, and he later rose to the position of Managing Director at Venable’s West Coast office. In 2017, he worked as a partner at DLA Piper, an MNC legal firm, in its Washington, D.C., and California offices.
He quit DLA Piper in 2020 because his wife was running for President of the United States. As a result, his work may raise concerns about a conflict of interest. He intends to focus on bringing justice and become a legal representative now that his wife has won the 2020 US Presidential election. He also decided to become a distinguished visitor at Georgetown University Law Center. Doug is currently supporting his wife, who is now the United States’ Vice President. He would act as their lawyer and ensure that the society received quality and justice. He would also serve as a visiting professor in the department of Technology Law and Policy at Georgetown University Law Centre.
