Duke Kahanamoku was a well-known native Hawaiian competition swimmer who promoted and popularized surfing, an old Hawaiian sport. He got five Olympic medals in swimming, which increased his popularity. He was a Scottish Rite Freemason, a law enforcement officer, a Shriner, an actor, a businessman, and a beach volleyball player, among other things.
On August 24, 1890, he was born, and on January 22, 1968, he died. He is no longer with us, but the top six quotes from Duke Kahanamoku remain timeless and useful.
