On Wednesday morning, deputies responded to reports of a woman in her twenties being shot in the Pine Hills neighborhood northwest of Orlando, Florida. According to witnesses, a man shot the 9-year-old and her mother on Wednesday after approaching a Spectrum News 13 news car and opening Fire.

In the second attack, a TV crew member and a 9-year-old girl were killed, while a Spectrum News 13 journalist and her mother were injured. They were in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

According to Spectrum News 13, the deceased employee was Dylan Lyons, 24. According to the station, photojournalist Jesse Walden was critically injured during the incident. Jeff German, a Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter who covered politics and corruption, was found dead outside his house in September after multiple stab wounds. Robert Telles, a former Clark County public administrator who was frequently the focus of German’s investigation, has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.

The killing was reported in Washington on Wednesday, and press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted her condolences. The National Press Club expressed “horror” at hearing about the shootings in Florida in a statement released on Wednesday and urged all reporters to exercise greater caution.

Keith Melvin Moses, 19, who was officially charged with murder in connection with the first incident, was later detained by police, according to the sheriff. Moses is expected to face charges for the additional shootings of the four people. Moses already has a “lengthy criminal past,” according to Sheriff Mina, which includes charges of burglary, grand theft, aggravated battery, and attack with a deadly weapon.

Despite Moses’ knowledge of the lady killed earlier in the day, Sheriff Mina stated that they did not see a reason for the shootings. Sheriff Mina stated that, while there has not previously been any violence against the media in the region, an investigation is underway.
