On April 19, 2013, following the Boston Marathon bombing, the FBI made Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s photo public. Near the marathon’s finish line, the bombs exploded 210 yards apart and 14 seconds apart, causing 281 injuries as well as three fatalities.
Three days after the bombs, Dzhokhar and his brother were named as suspects by the FBI, who also made their photographs public. The Tsarnaev twins abducted a guy in his car and killed an MIT police officer as they tried to flee.
The other person ran away, and the brothers and cops got into a firefight. Tamerlan died shortly after Dzhokhar fled in an SUV, ran over his sibling, and then died.
Dzhokhar was found severely hurt and hidden in a boat on April 19 of the same year. Dzhokhar was captured by the authorities and transported to a medical facility after opening fire on the boat.
Later, he was accused of murderous property destruction and of using and preparing to use a weapon of mass destruction. On April 8, 2015, he was found guilty on 30 charges and sentenced to death.

Tsarnaev was sentenced to death. In 2020, though, the appeal was turned down. In March 2022, the initial death sentence was affirmed by the US Supreme Court.
He was then sent back to death row, where he is still incarcerated today. But no date for the execution has been decided upon.
