The shooting’s circumstances and Kyle’s status as the author of the best-selling memoir American Sniper contributed to the case’s widespread media coverage.

Eddie Ray Routh: Is He Dead? True or False News?

It is important to clarify that Eddie Ray Routh is still alive despite the numerous rumors and false information that have led to an increase in searches for him, such as “Is Eddie Ray Routh Dead?”

The offender is being held at the Ramsey Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice located in Brazoria County.

After the sad events, the former Marine was charged with the murders of Chris and Chad, and on February 24, 2015, a guilty judgment was reached.

The case was overseen by Judge Jason Cashon, who condemned Ray to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Details about Eddie Ray Routh’s case

Routh and Chris Kyle attended the same high school, which caused their paths to cross.

In 2006, the ex-mariner joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed in Iraq, the Middle East, and Haiti as an armorer.

He was deeply affected by seeing the destruction brought about by the earthquake in Haiti.

Nevertheless, he had serious mental health issues after his return, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The gunman was subsequently diagnosed with PTSD due to his unpredictable conduct, which included delusional episodes and a history of hospitalizations.

Although he was given strong medicine to treat his illness, he also started using alcohol and marijuana for self-medication.

Sadly, Ray’s mental health issues remained, leading to severe periods of depression.

Routh exhibited strange conduct following the killings, such as stopping at a Taco Bell to get food before confessing to his sister at her Midlothian home.

Calling 911 right away, she described him as “crazy” and “psychotic.”

After that, the offender went back to his house, got his dog, and got into a short argument with the local police.

He spoke absurd things about voodoo, Hell, and the end of the world.

Ray tried to drive away from the scene in Kyle’s Ford F-350 truck, but he was apprehended by the authorities following a brief pursuit on the interstate that resulted in a collision with a Lancaster police vehicle.

Pictures of Eddie Ray Routh’s Crime Scenes

The terrible results of Eddie’s conduct were made clear by the crime scene images shown in court.

In Erath County, Texas, at the Rough Creek Ranch-Lodge-Resort shooting range, Routh shot and murdered Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.

The 45-caliber M1911-style handguns that both victims were carrying had not been taken out of their holsters, discharged, or had their safety catches disengaged.

Both of Kyle’s weapons—a 45 caliber handgun and a 9mm SIG Sauer P226 Mk.25 Mod 0 pistol—were used in the shooting deaths of Littlefield and Kyle.

The bullet wounds the victims sustained were proof of the savagery of the murders.

Six shots were fired at Kyle, one of which fatally punctured his aorta and the other striking his jaw, severely injuring his spinal cord.

Littlefield was shot seven times; four of those wounds may have been lethal right away.

He appeared to have been hit while already on the ground, based on one of the bullets to his head.
