The start of Friedman’s broadcasting career began in 1994 for the Toronto sports radio station, The Fan 590. He did play-by-play for the Toronto Raptors games on the radio as well as on television.
By 1998, he started reporting on the Toronto Blue Jays games. Before joining CBC sports, Friedman worked shortly for The Score network in 2003. At CBC, Friedman started working as a Hockey Night reporter, as well as the studio host for two seasons of the CFL (Canadian Football League). He also covered CBC’s Olympic Games and some Toronto Raptors.
Friedman participated as a commentator in the Summer Olympics in 2016 to replace Steve Armitage during the CBC coverage of diving and swimming events.
