Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, is back with new upgrades for the microblogging site. This time, he has replaced the classic bluebird emblem, which served as the home button on the online version, with the “doge” meme of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency.
The ‘doge’ meme, part of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency logo that was established as a joke in 2013, was discovered by Twitter users on the web version of Twitter.
On Monday, Twitter users observed the ‘doge’ meme, which is part of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency logo and was established as a joke in 2013, on Twitter’s web version.
Elon Musk also tweeted a funny post on his account depicting the ‘doge’ meme (which depicts the face of a Shiba Inu) in the automobile and tells the police officer, who appears to be looking at his driver’s license, that his photo has been altered.
Importantly, no changes were made to Twitter’s mobile app.
Variety said that the doge image (of a Shiba Inu) is well recognized as the logo of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency, which was created as a joke in 2013 to ridicule other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Twitter’s CEO also provided a screenshot of their conversation on March 26, 2022, in which the anonymous account requested that the bird emblem be changed to “doge.” Musk tweeted this link with the phrase “As promised.”
Variety reports that Musk, who purchased Twitter for USD 44 billion last year, is a well-known admirer of the Doge joke and has promoted Dogecoin on Twitter and during his hosting of “Saturday Night Live” last year.
Dogecoin’s value increased by more than 20% following Monday’s redesign of Twitter’s website logo.
Musk stated in March 2022 prior to launching his ultimately successful bid to acquire Twitter “Given that Twitter functions as the de facto public town square, failure to adhere to free speech values weakens democracy on a basic level. What ought to be done?” Musk tweeted.
The response from @WSBChairman was “simply buy Twitter… and alter the bird logo to a doge.” Musk said,
“Hahaha, that would be awesome!”
Musk’s love for ‘doge’ was evident on February 15, when he shared a snapshot of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency logo, posing as the CEO, with the statement “The new CEO of Twitter is wonderful.”
