She first rose to prominence as an artist, editor, and writer. Her works mostly dealt with contemporary culture, history, and fashion, as well as people’s interactions with them.

Emily attended Brown University, where she majored in Art Semiotics and received her bachelor’s degree. She also founded and served as executive director of Shop Well with You.
