After receiving a harsh response from fans regarding the cancellation of his event, Eric Church took to Twitter to offer a free concert to everybody who had purchased tickets. Initially planned for April 2 in San Antonio, TX,
Church, while promoting the free event, stated:
“It took me some time to determine how and when to express gratitude. On Friday, September 2, 2022, I will play at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas for anybody who purchased tickets for our canceled San Antonio show.”
Church also announced a new event to take place in Texas in early September. In addition, the artist assured that additional details regarding the “free performance” will be forthcoming.
Why Eric Church Cancelled His Performance in San Antonio
Four days prior to his April 2 concert in San Antonio, Eric Church canceled the performance via Ticketmaster. The musician from Record Year gave refunds to individuals who purchased concert tickets, along with a message explaining his “selfish” motivation.
In his statement, Eric Church explained that he canceled his concert to watch the NCAA tournament with his family. Church stressed his excitement for the last four basketball games between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils.
The following is Eric Church’s Ticketmaster statement to supporters:
“On Saturday, my family and I will root for the Tar Heels in the Final Four. As a lifelong Carolina basketball fan, it is a dream come true to witness Carolina and Duke meet in the Final Four for the first time in NCAA Tournament history.”
Eric Church began by telling his fans that canceling the event so quickly was “the most selfish request” he had ever made. Thus, the native of North Carolina scheduled a free event to make amends with fans who missed his canceled Saturday performance.
People report that Eric Church’s counter-performance would take place at the Whitewater Amphitheater in Canyon Lake, New Braunfels. The September 2 event is free for those who purchased tickets for the April 2 performance at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
When the 44-year-old singer announced the cancellation, some fans criticized her. When few individuals comprehended the NCAA game, he canceled the show. Others were disappointed because they had planned flights and lodging to visit him and would not be compensated.
