On Fox, he developed the “Best Damn Sports Show Period,” but subsequently left the network. Shanks began his career with DirecTV in different executive roles, where he was in charge of original entertainment, regional sports networks, advanced products, and advertising sales.

Shanks, as president, created “Fox Sports 1,” a cable and satellite television channel that debuted in August 2013.
