Erik Van Rooyen’s latest emotional remark has left followers bewildered and concerned, with some believing he has cancer. Erik Van Rooyen, a South African professional golfer, currently competes on the European and PGA Tours.
Rooyen has won twice on the PGA Tour and once on the European Tour. Following an emotional interview a few days ago, many people expressed concern about him, and some are confused about whether he has cancer. Erik Van Rooyen was born on February 21, 1990, in Bellville, South Africa, to parents Wim and Elize Van Rooyen.
Van attended the University of Minnesota between 2009 and 2013, where he won the Minnesota State Amateur in 2012. Rooyen started his professional career in 2013 and has been competing on the Sunshine Tour ever since. His first win came in 2017 at the Eye of Africa PGA Championship.
He won his first European Tour title at the Scandinavian Invitation, which was held at Hills Golf & Sports Club just outside of Sweden. Rooyen won the PGA Tour and the World Wide Technology Championship in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

Erik and Jon Trasamar’s Friendship
Erik Van Rooyen first encountered Trasamar while traveling from South Africa to Minnesota to attend college. When Van was 19, he left his home to study abroad. Van and his family resided approximately two hours from Minneapolis, where he was studying.
Erik and Jon quickly became roommates, teammates, and close friends. Trasamar even served as the best man at Erik Van’s wedding. After being close friends for nearly a decade, Van was overcome with emotion when he got the tragic news.
