The 2023 lineup for one of Bristol’s largest music festivals has been announced. Grammy-winning artist Erykah Badu and musician and DJ Aphex Twin will headline the second annual Forwards festival.
The September event will also feature performances by Primal Scream and Arlo Parks. The capacity of the two-day festival will be 60,000 people.
The festival, according to its organizers, will also address the city’s “serious” challenges.
It will feature a variety of experts, writers, and artists discussing current events on a program titled The Information.
In the coming months, organizers will confirm this year’s speakers and topics.
‘Great talent
Tom Paine, the co-founder of Team Love, stated, “We’re excited to bring Forwards back to our hometown and the greatest city in the world, Bristol, this year.
“Based on our efforts from our debut year, we are ecstatic to be able to assemble a musical offering including such an astounding breadth of talent.
Forwards will continue to be a platform that encourages debate and challenges the existing quo.
“Offering our audience a place to congregate, dance, and create memories, while attempting to incite discussions, actions, and impact good change through vital talks at The Information.”
The festival will provide work experience, job shadowing, and paid job placements for youth.
This will involve the reintroduction of Capture Forwards, a program that provides young photographers with the opportunity to photograph live events in order to advance their careers.
