FSB accused Gershkovich of espionage for the US government and said they had stopped him. Gershkovich was arrested in Yekaterinburg by the FSB while trying to acquire sensitive Russian military-industrial complex information.

Evan will remain in pre-trial custody until May 29. He might get 20 years in jail if convicted. The Wall Street Journal urged Gershkovich’s immediate release and disputed FSB charges. They supported him and his family.
