After Former Chester County Sheriff’s Deputy Evan Hawthorne was charged with the murder of a Retired Rock Hill Police Lieutenant, the internet was in disbelief.
Evan Hawthorne, a former deputy with the Chester County Sheriff, was arrested in 2019 after he was found to be inebriated while operating his police car and caused an accident. Sheriff Max Dorsey fired Hawthorne after his arrest.
According to sources, Rock Hill Police have turned over the homicide investigation to the York County Sheriff’s Office. On the basis of a murder charge, Hawthorne is being detained in the York County Detention Facility.
The homicide case is still being investigated, sources claim. According to the prosecution, Hawthorne murdered Vaughan by employing blunt force trauma after following him home.
Evan Hawthorne, Who Is He?
Larry Vaughan, who worked at the Rock Hill Police Department for 30 years before retiring, died in July 2021, and Evan Robert Hawthorne was charged with his murder.
Evan Hawthorne departed the company in 2018 and came back in May 2019.
Hawthorne was a deputy with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office at one point, according to WCNC Charlotte, but he was discharged from his position in 2019 for drunkenly operating a police cruiser.
Soon later, in July of the same year, Hawthorne was fired by Sheriff Max Dorsey following a DUI incident in which it was alleged that Hawthorne was drunk while not on duty and was driving his police car.
Evan Hawthorne, a former officer of the law, joined the Chester County Sheriff’s Office in August 2015, working under the outgoing Sheriff Alex Underwood.
The family is refusing to comment on the event, according to Hawthorne’s father, a local realtor.
This past Saturday, the offender turned up before a magistrate court after being lodged in the York County Detention Center.
A person was discovered deceased in an apartment at The Anderson complex on East Main Street on Friday, July 23, according to a notification from the York County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Monday night, the accused, 27-year-old Evan Robert Hawthorne, was still imprisoned for the murder of Larry Vaughan.
For his bond hearing, Hawthorne appeared before a magistrate judge. Evan Hawthorne formerly worked for the Chester County Sheriff’s Department.
Due to Lieutenant Larry Vaughan’s affiliations with their organization, the Rock Hill Police Department has requested the York County Sheriff’s Office conduct an investigation. The reason for this tragedy is still a mystery to the neighborhood.
Vaughan will retire in September 2020 after 30 years of service, including 20 years with the Rock Hill SWAT unit.

Lieutenant Vaughan began his employment with the Rock Hill Police Department in June 1990 and worked professionally and devotedly for our community for over 30 years until retiring in September 2020.
Throughout his tenure, he worked as a Patrol Officer, Special Projects Officer, Patrol Supervisor, K-9 Officer, SWAT Sniper, SWAT Team Leader, SWAT Commander, Firearms Instructor, Driving Instructor, and Patrol Rifle Instructor. He also served as a Firearms Instructor, Driving Instructor, and Patrol Rifle Instructor.
