Asher was born in Los Angeles, California on May 18, 2002, to actress Jenny McCarthy and John Mallory Asher. His maternal grandparents came from a Catholic working-class family. Evan has German, Irish, and Polish ancestors on his mother’s side.

Jenny eventually took Asher to a UCLA neurologist in 2005. Evan’s autism was first identified at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital’s Autism Evaluation Clinic.

Later, the State of California (through their Regional Center) confirmed his condition. Asher’s mental development lagged behind by a couple of years.

Evan Joseph Asher has been receiving treatment at the ‘University of California, Los Angeles’ (UCLA) autism department and has recently demonstrated great improvement.

Asher’s mental development was also sluggish. His mother left no stone unturned in her search for a cure for her kid.

Evan was started on intense applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy. Chelation, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, electromagnetics, spoons rubbed on the body, and a variety of prescribed medications were all part of the treatment. The Southern Illinois University graduate modified her son’s diet to exclude gluten and casein.

McCarthy also tried aromatherapy, multivitamin treatment, and B-12 injections for Evan.

Evan’s mother also sought treatment from the UCLA Center for Autism Research & Treatment (CART) program. The program had a profoundly favorable impact on him. After a few sessions, Asher was able to compose six-word sentences and learned how to say “yes” and “no.”

Jennifer’s son was already showing signs of emotion at the end of the show. Asher’s mother then scheduled his therapy sessions at home, which significantly disrupted her financial situation.

Evan fought with yeast in his intestines while undergoing treatments. He improved over time and through various medical and non-medical treatments; he laughed at an abstract joke.

Asher’s Mother Claims Autism Was Caused by Vaccine

McCarthy even blamed her son’s condition on measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines, and later became an advocate for the anti-vaccine and “Autism Biomed” groups. Evan’s mother fights against vaccines, claiming that they are to blame for her son’s autism.
