Everything About Lexi Underwood And Her Parents

Lexi Underwood

Lexi Underwood gained notoriety for her depiction of Pearl Warren in Hulu’s 2017 adaption of Celeste Ng’s book Little Fires Everywhere. While filming, Underwood, who was only in her mid-teens, occasionally outperformed her more experienced co-stars, such as Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon.

Where was Lexi Underwood born? Ethnicity, Nationality, Family

Alex Underwood and Stephanie Black welcomed Lexi into the world in Cheverly, Maryland, on August 28, 2003. Early in life, Underwood showed a passion for music, and at age five, she was quite proficient on the piano.

Then came the guitar and the flute, quickly followed by the gymnastics and dance. Lexi also showed a wonderful vocal range, which was influenced by the various genres of music performed in the home.

She told the Evening Standard, “My mum and dad had two distinct preferences in music, so they were playing everything from Prince to the Beatles to Aaliyah.”

After Lexi’s first theatrical performance, acting became her preference for music. During a 2015 theatrical tour and on Broadway, Lexi played Young Nala from The Lion King, which reaffirmed her love for acting.

Lexi approached her parents with an odd request once the trip was over. She encouraged her parents to leave their homes in Washington, D.C., and come to Los Angeles with her to maintain the acting momentum they had built up.

Lexi had a fantastic first audition and had her sights set on a position in Little Fires Everywhere. The second audition, though, appeared to be a reach. If her mother’s timely counsel hadn’t come along, Lexi would have given up on the part. Although Stephanie assured Lexi that she would support any choice she made, Lexi was still required to make an effort. Lexi clarified:

“However, my mother said, ‘You wanted to try out for Little Fires. Just get started and give it your all. And that’s fine if you don’t get it and still want to go home. But at the very least, enter there and demonstrate your capabilities.

Lexi Underwood became passionate about advocating for women’s rights

After meeting the Little Fires Everywhere cast, Lexi became passionate about advocating for women’s rights.

The Underwood family was overcome with joy when Lexi was offered the part. She would have the opportunity to work with actors she had long admired.

When Lexi first met Kerry Washington, she reportedly cried for around 30 minutes at home, according to Air Mail, it was her turn to speak, Lexi saw Kerry be a strict yet compassionate instructor. When the inexperienced young actor made mistakes, Kerry would frequently scold her, and Lexi acknowledges that she was terrified.

In addition to helping Lexi advance her career, her lead role in Little Fires Everywhere stoked the fires of her activism. Long before she knew she would become a global celebrity, Underwood was passionate about activism. In the sixth grade, she published her first essay on cultural appropriation.

Little Fires Everywhere’s cast and direction represented Underwood’s ideals for the globe. The diversity began in the writers’ room and permeated the cast and the production team.

In Little Fires Everywhere, themes of racial and gender inequality were also covered. Using the knowledge she gained while filming the series, Lexi intends to continue her advocacy. She stated to The Evening Standard that

“All I want to do is make sure I keep bringing about change. To ensure that no little lady or young boy – no young kid ever – has to grow up feeling like they have a lack of representation on the screen, I want to continue to be a part of crafting tales and carrying that movement forward.
