Everything We Know About Jhene Aiko Parents

Jhene Aiko

Jhene Aiko is renowned for her lyrically honest and soulful content as well as her melodic voice. She has been an artist for the majority of her life, but it wasn’t until she worked with Lil Wayne and Big Sean on the 2013 song Beware that she became known to the general public. She released her debut EP, Sail Out, around the end of 2013.

After the EP Sail Out was a success, Jhene Aiko released Souled Out, her major-label first album. The trip, her second album, was published in September 2017; Chilombo, her third album, was released in March 2020. Aiko’s ascent to prominence is well-known, but little is known about the contribution her parents made to her success.

Jhene Aiko and her sisters’ careers were assisted by Jhene’s mother

Two of Jhene’s sisters had successful musical careers in the 1990s; she was born into a musical family. Miyoko and Jamila, Aiko’s sisters, were members of the R&B group Gyrl.

Jhene’s singing career got off to a good start when she was young thanks to her sisters and mother. To concentrate on her studies, she was freed from her contract with Epic Records three years after signing when she was just 13 years old.

Christina Yamamoto, Jhene’s mother, assisted in overseeing her daughters’ musical careers. Aiko still has a close relationship with her mom, who is Spanish, Dominican, and Japanese. Jhene spoke about her mother while performing at the Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms Mother’s Day music tribute performance in 2018. She uttered:

“Today I discovered a new gray hair, but I was unconcerned at all. I believe I merited it. Overall, I’m leveling up and getting better and wiser. I’m evolving into my lovely mother, who taught me that strength comes with experience. What a sight, I’m turning into my lovely mother who is love in the flesh.

Jhene Aiko’s mother and father got divorced

After 20 years of marriage, Jhene’s mother and father got divorced. By constructing a studio in the home, Jhene’s father assisted in the artist’s growth. He also assisted Jhene in writing songs.

Jhene’s father, however, came and went from her life, and ultimately, after 20 years of marriage, Jhene’s parents split. They had five kids: Jahi, Miyagi, Jhene, Miyoko, and Mila throughout those twenty years.

Additionally, Jhene’s father had offspring from prior partnerships. Sadly, in July 2012, Aiko lost her brother Miyagi to cancer. Why Aren’t You Smiling? from her brother’s final tweet, was inked on Aiko’s torso. A number of her songs are also in memory of her late brother.
