Halsey has developed a reputation for being brutally honest. She has no problem discussing her troubled past and her inner thoughts. Halsey is seen as the ideal performer for a generation that needs to express their emotions.

In Edison, New Jersey, on September 29, 1994, Ashley Nicolette Frangipane was given the name Halsey. Nicole is of Hungarian, Italian, and Irish ancestry, whereas Chris is African-American, making her bi-racial. Halsey was raised by Chris and Nicole together with her two brothers, Sevian and Dante.
When Chris and Nicole learned that Nicole was expecting Halsey, they decided to drop out of college because it would be more difficult for them to raise the child. They were forced to work in professions like auto sales and security to support themselves.
The family was compelled by the circumstance to relocate frequently as Nicole and Chris looked for employment. Nicole and Chris occasionally held down two jobs apiece, and the family was forced to live in small apartments.
The family struggled, and the home occasionally descended into complete chaos. I grew up in an extremely chaotic household, Halsey said in a Rolling Stone interview.
The children enrolled in several schools as a result of their frequent travel. Before she turned thirteen, Halsey already had six schools under her belt.
Halsey was Evicted by Chris and Nicole after Quitting College
Because of her difficult upbringing, Halsey attempted suicide by overdosing on over-the-counter medications when she was 17 years old. Halsey told her parents that she was sorry for her choice. She discovered she was bipolar while in a psychiatric hospital for more than two weeks. Halsey also learned that Nicole suffered from the same issue.
Due to her artistic talent, Halsey enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design. She quickly realized that staying at the school was out of her price range. She had little choice except to enroll in a community college, although she opposed the concept. Halsey believed it to be a time waster.

Halsey was compelled to live with acquaintances, in shelters for the homeless, and sporadically with her maternal grandmother. She nevertheless succeeded in becoming a musical superstar.
Halsey, a White Woman who passes for Black
Since She acknowledged to Playboy that she “looks like a White girl,” many people are shocked to hear that she is multiracial. I don’t feel like one, though. I am a lady of color. It’s been strange navigating life while seeming to be a white woman but feeling like a black one, Halsey continued.
She admitted,
“I’m white-passing.” I have never attempted to dominate any aspect of Black culture that is not my own and have accepted it about myself. Due to the Black Lives Matter demonstrations, Halsey was accused of not “claiming her Black side.”
She recognized that since she is white-passing, she does not experience the same threats that other Black people do. I’ve always been proud of who I am, but to use the word “we” when I’m not vulnerable to the same violence would be completely inaccurate, she wrote in a tweet.
“The tears I would shed for presenting phenotypically Black and the disadvantages and violence that I would face because of that,” the author writes. “No matter how many tears I’ve shed because I’m not connecting with my family or my culture in a way that I would like to, or because the waitress thinks I’m the babysitter when I go out with my family.
She and her boyfriend Alev Aydin will face “a new struggle” as they raise their child. She explained, “I’m mixed-race, Alev is Middle Eastern, and our child will have a Black grandfather and a Turkish grandfather. In this kind of multicultural home, they will develop.
Halsey received her First Tattoo thanks to Nicole
She has several tattoos, some of which she shares with pals, on her body. Halsey’s mother served as her inspiration for her tattoos. Nicole is cited by the speaker as an artistic inspiration. Halsey informed iHeartRadio that
She has full sleeves. Her tongue is pierced. When I was a child, she was extremely cool, stunning, and constantly had tattoos. Since I looked up to her, I believe I always considered it an artistic endeavor.
When Halsey was 15 years old, Nicole took her to get her very first tattoo. Nicole and Halsey both have matching anchor tattoos. She declared:
“I begged her over and again to let me get a tattoo, and she took me to get one almost as a terror tactic,” the woman said. My mother also owns the identical anchor with her initials on it.
