Alonso Sr had built a go-kart for his daughter Lorena, but she was uninterested, so he placed Fernando in it. And thus his passion for racing began. Fernando married Raquel del Rosario, a Spanish singer and actress, in 2006. However, they divorced five years later, in 2011. He later became engaged to Lara Alvarez for 16 months until their engagement ended in 2016. After finishing third in the Australian Grand Prix, Alonso announced his divorce from his girlfriend Andrea Schlager earlier this year.
Alonso met Schlager, a sports broadcaster with F1 experience, through their F1 contacts. Alonso announced his divorce on Instagram, hinting that it was amicable. The F1 driver has also kept all of his Instagram posts with Andrea up to date.
Two months after his divorce from Schlager, Alonso was believed to be seeing another Spanish commentator, Melissa Jiminez. The media believes they are in a relationship even though they have not proclaimed it.
