“After identifying major issues caused by wonky layouts, misplaced staircases, and maze-like corridors, Mike will use his construction expertise to create a functional flow, while Denese will capture their clients’ style with custom finishes.”

It continues, saying:

“By blending elements of the older homes’ charm with modern design, the couple will produce stunning, cohesive spaces for homeowners.”

In the season premiere of Fix My Frankenhouse, the duo will restore a home from the 1900s

An upcoming series, Fix My Frankenhouse, will follow home restoration professionals and married couple Mike and Denese Butler as they take on old houses and turn them into functional homes that the current occupants would love and enjoy living in. In the season opener, the duo will face a home built in the 1900s with “tight and dysfunctional spaces” but also exceptional historic features.

They’ll have to knock down walls, rebuild the kitchen and dining area, and build a “large mudroom and spa-like bathrooms” to make the first Fix My Frankenhouse home look modern. Denese stated that, despite loving restoration, the home was not operational. She noticed that if you opened the fridge door, it would collide with the store, and if you tried to get something from beneath the sink, the door would collide with the stove.

According to the network’s announcement:

“As the season progresses, Mike and Denese will work with their fathers, master carpenters John Butler and Peter Doyle, to deliver one-of-a-kind projects for each family, including an island with a built-in bench seat and a repurposed antique chest.”

Meanwhile, Mike Butler asserted that multiple owners may make improvements to a house over time, eventually transforming it into a “frankenhouse.” He went on to say that his favorite part of the job is resolving problems for the people who live in these houses. He reorganizes floor plans and creates new layouts to maximize functionality as part of his job.

Denise stated that once the pair have finished rearranging the space, she will use a cohesive contemporary design to restore “flow” to the home. The Solution According to one of my Frankenhouse cast members, their customers don’t always know what they want, and it’s her responsibility to guide them through the design process.

The Answer My Frankenhouse hosts revealed details about filming the HGTV show while speaking with House Digest. Each property on the show, according to Denese, has a distinct appearance that reflects the owners. She hopes that the show will inspire viewers to “tap into who they are and draw out certain cool aspects” of themselves, which they can then incorporate into their homes. Fix My Frankenhouse season 1 will premiere on HGTV on Sunday, April 23 at 9 p.m. ET.
