How Did George Magoha Die? Death Cause and Obituary

Magoha passed suddenly on Tuesday, January 24, in Nairobi Hospital after experiencing a cardiac arrest. He was being saved by Michael Magoha, his child, and his wife. Despite futile attempts to revive him, he passed dead in the hospital after being transported there after falling at home.

Prof. Magoha was known for being tough-talking and unyielding when he was in charge as the Cabinet Secretary of the Education Ministry, where he oversaw operations.

Just over a month had elapsed since the death of Magoha’s younger brother Alex Nyabera Magoha. Nyabera died away in Allen, Texas, in the United States on December 6, 2022; his cause of death was unknown.

The cortege was set to leave the Aga Khan Hospital Funeral Home in Kisumu on January 28, 2023, in preparation for his burial. Tragically, the demise of their second sister in 2021 resulted in the family being thrown into grief.

Charles Agunga Magoha passed away on Tuesday, August 31, and the cause of his passing was also kept a secret. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi from 2005 until 2015.

George taught surgery at the University of Nairobi’s College of Health Sciences. He also served as a consultant urologist at Kenyatta National Hospital, the university’s teaching hospital.

George Magoha, a former education CS, was raised

He was born in Kisumu in 1952. When he was a little child in Nairobi, Magoha moved in with his older brother John Obare and his wife Agatha Christine Obare due to his asthma.

He went to Dr. David Livingstone Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya’s largest city. Then, to complete his O-Level studies, he proceeded to Starehe Boys’ Center and School.

He earned his high school diploma after finishing his A-Level studies at Strathmore School. He was given a scholarship to study human medicine at the University of Lagos in Nigeria.

George finished his schooling at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria, and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in the United Kingdom.

He is a Fellow of the Irish Royal College of Surgeons and has undertaken specialized training in urology.

Details about George Magoha’s career

in the turn of the century, Magoha was quickly appointed chairman, dean, and principal of the College of Health Sciences. He then became deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Nairobi. He was appointed the vice-chancellor of the UoN in 2005 after receiving the highest rating from the applicants.

His most notable success at the UoN was the adoption of discipline among the academic staff, non-teaching staff, and students. Staff employees reportedly never worked when he took office, academics skipped classes, and some even failed to turn in exam results.

Strikes by students were notoriously common and had a bad effect on the school’s reputation. He put in a ventilation safety valve and, by freely meeting with students to hear about their issues, kept them from revolting. During his 10 years as vice chancellor, there were fewer student strikes than there had been in the past.
