How did Francis Coquelin start his Professional Career?

Francis Coquelin started playing football with AS Laval Bourny before switching to Stade Lavallois, the largest club in the area, in 2005. Then, he participated in a match against Israel while playing for Stade Lavallois in the 2008 UEFA European Under-17 Championship semifinals.

Francis transferred from Stade Lavallois to Arsenal on July 22, 2008, following a successful trial with the squad. In the summer of 2008, he participated in preseason games for the main team against Barnet and Szombathelyi Haladas.

He played for 58 minutes before being replaced by Mark Randall. He was replaced by Aaron Ramsey midway through the second half following a terrible maiden FA Cup start against Stoke City, a 3-1 loss.
