He used to participate in a number of gospel groups and was an enthusiastic member of them. Fred is currently signed as a solo artist to Verity Records, and he is well-known for winning Dove, Grammy, and Stellar awards, as well as being nominated as a producer, composer, and singer.

He was first noticed as a bass guitarist for the Winans gospel group, and then as one of the original six members of the commissioned group in 1985, appearing on ten of the group’s twelve albums. However, his relationship did not last long, and their collaboration ended.

His musical ensemble Radical For Christ sold millions of copies, and the album was instrumental in his rise to prominence in the gospel world. He rejoined the Commissioned group in 2002 and produced the commissioned reunion live CD.
