Matthew Perry, an American actor best recognized for his role as Chandler Bing on the successful 1990s sitcom Friends, has passed away at the age of 54.

Law enforcement officials who talked to US media said that the actor’s body was found at his Los Angeles home.

Companion was a television series that followed the lives of six young people living in New York City from 1994 to 2004.

Its last episode was the most-watched television show of the 2000s in the US, with 52.5 million people.

The LA Times and TMZ, who broke the story of Perry’s passing first, said that the actor was found dead in a steaming Jacuzzi at his home.

An unidentified “water emergency” led emergency personnel to a Pacific Palisades neighborhood address, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman told the BBC, declining to reveal Perry’s identity.

Warner Bros. Television produced the television series Friends, stating,

“We are devastated by the loss of our dear friend Matthew Perry.”

The statement read, “Matthew was an extraordinarily gifted actor and an enduring member of the Warner Bros. Television Group family.”

“His legacy will live on in the hearts of innumerable people, and his humorous genius had an international impact. On this awful day, we offer our sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones, and all of his dedicated admirers.

Born in 1969 in Massachusetts, Matthew Perry grew up in Ottawa, Canada, where he attended the same primary school as Justin Trudeau, the country’s future prime leader.

In his teenage years, Matthew Perry moved to Los Angeles. Apart from playing Chazz Russell in Boys Will Be Boys, he acted in other films, such as Growing Pains.

But because of the show Friends, which helped six New Yorkers negotiate friendship, employment, and courtship, he became well-known worldwide.

The sitcom, which co-starred Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, went on to become one of the most-watched television shows of all time.

Matthew Perry was cast as the clumsy, well-known caustic one-liner Chandler Bing. For the part, he received a 2002 Primetime Emmy nomination.

Perry spent years battling an addiction to alcohol and medications, often visiting treatment centers during that time.

Matthew Perry revealed to BBC Radio 2 in 2016 that his drinking and drug abuse had prevented him from remembering the three years he spent filming Friends.

In an interview from the prior year, he claimed not to have watched the program.

“I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, ‘Drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,'” he said. “I could tell the season just by looking at me. That’s why I don’t want to see it; that’s what I see, anyway.

“But I think I’m going to start to watch it because it’s been an incredible thing to watch it touch the hearts of different generations.”

Matthew Perry also starred in movies including The Whole Nine Yards, Almost Heroes, and Fools Rush In. Friends’ Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice, was the first co-star to pay tribute to Tyler Perry in public.

Ms. Wheeler claims that the joy Perry offered to “so many” during his “too brief lifetime” will never fade.

“I feel so incredibly blessed by every creative moment we shared,” the woman stated on Instagram.

Cruel Intentions’ Selma Blair said that Matthew Perry was her “oldest boyfriend” and continued,

“We all adored him, but I particularly so.” Every day. I loved him without holding anything back. So did he me.

“I, too, am broken.” I’m devastated. Sweet dreams, Matty. “Blessed dreams.”
