Future

Future- Biography

Future is one of the hottest American rappers of recent times; he has everything going for him–the fan following, the music, the sound, and the chart-busting albums. Billboard has dubbed him the “Future of Music.” And why not, given that he is the only artist in history to dethrone his own album (FUTURE) from the top spot in order to replace it with another of his albums (HNDRXX). With this, Future became the first performer in Billboard history to debut two consecutive #1 albums. Surprisingly, his cousin was the one who originally exposed him to music and rapping.

Future had no idea that his fate would be sealed, as would his stage moniker for the rest of his life. Future has produced several mixtapes and albums since 2010, all of which have charted at the top. In 2012, he made a major step forward with his debut album, ‘Pluto,’ which received good reviews. He swiftly followed it up with similarly successful second and third albums. He achieved international success in 2015 with his chart-topping album ‘DS2’ and super hit mixtape ‘What A Time To Be Alive.’ Future appears to be the ‘Future’ of music, with universal impact and pervasive chart dominance.

Future- Birth, Age, Ethnicity, Siblings, Education

Future was born on November 20, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia as Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn from a family of street hustlers. He went to Columbia High School.

Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn was a member of the musical collective ‘The Dungeon Family’ as a child. It was there that he was given the nickname Future, which he carried with him for the rest of his life. Rico Wade, his cousin, urged him to polish his creative talents and pursue a career in rapping.

Future- Relationship, Girlfriend

Future has led an eventful personal life. He has four children from four different relationships: Jessica Smith, Brittni Mealy, India J, and Ciara.
Future proposed to Ciara in October 2013. However, due to his adultery, she called off the engagement in August 2014. Future Zahir Wilburn, their son, was born in May 2014.

Future is currently facing legal action from both Jessica Smith and Ciara. Ciara has sued Smith for defamation, slander, and libel, while Smith has sued him for failing to pay child support.

Future- Professional Career

  • Future produced a trilogy of mixtapes dubbed ‘1000,’ ‘Dirty Sprite,’ and ‘True Story’ between early 2010 and 2011. In September 2011, he secured a significant record deal with Epic Records’ A1 Recordings, which is owned by fellow American rapper Rocko.
  • Future released his next mixtape, ‘Streetz Calling,’ after signing a deal with A1 Recordings. He brought a new dimension to the pop genre and virtually polished it with the mixtape. Simultaneously, he collaborated with rapper Gucci Mane on their joint album ‘Free Bricks.’ He even collaborated on the YC track “Racks.”
  • Though ‘Streetz Calling’ was regarded as Future’s penultimate mixtape before the release of his first album, in January 2012, he released a new mixtape named ‘Astronaut Status.’ Though ‘Astronaut Status’ did not perform as well as Future’s earlier efforts, it did carry Future’s rhythm and sound well into the following year.
  • ‘Pluto,’ Future’s debut album, was released in April 2012. It includes remixes of ‘Tony Montana,’ which included Drake, and ‘Magic,’ which featured T.I. Magic went on to become Future’s debut Billboard Hot 100 chart entry. Trae Tha Truth, R. Kelly, and Snoop Dogg all contributed to ‘Pluto.’ Later that year, Future was created, produced, and appeared on ‘Love.
  • Future released the compilation mixtape ‘F.B.G.: The Movie’ on January 15, 2013, featuring artists from his Freebandz labels such as Young Scooter, Slice9, Casino, Mexico Rann, and Maceo. The mixtape was a great success (it received over 200,000 downloads on the mixtape site DatPiff) and was certified platinum.
  • Future announced the release of his second studio album, ‘Future Hendrix,’ following the release of ‘FBG: The Movie.’ ‘Future Hendrix,’ in contrast to his debut, was thought to be a more substantial musical affair incorporating R&B music. Its first song, ‘Karate Chop,’ featuring Casino, was released in January 2013. Future changed the title of his album to ‘Honest’ in August. ‘Honest,’ after considerable speculation, was released in April 2014. Kanye West, Rihanna, Ciara, Drake, Kelly Rowland, Jeremih, Diplo, and André 3000 were among the many artists who contributed to the album.
  • Future released three mixtapes between 2014 and 2015: ‘Monster,’ ‘Beast Mode,’ and ’56 Nights.’ Surprisingly, all of the mixtapes performed exceptionally well, garnering widespread critical acclaim and appreciation.
  • Future released his next hit album, ‘DS2,’ in July 2015. Later that year, he released a collaboration mixtape with Canadian rapper Drake called ‘What a Time to Be Alive.’ Future became the first rapper in more than a decade to have two number one albums in a year when the album opened at number one on the Billboard 200, Billboard R&B Charts, and Billboard Hot Rap Songs. In the United States, the mixtape alone sold over 334,000 copies.
  • Future released another mixtape, dubbed ‘Purple Reign,’ in January 2016. He quickly released his fourth studio album, ‘EVOL,’ which debuted on DJ Khaled’s debut edition of the Beats 1 radio show ‘We The Best.’ With the release of his fourth album, Future became the first artist since Glee soundtrack albums in 2010 to have three number-one albums on the Billboard 200.
  • Future produced many singles certified gold or higher by the RIAA, including ‘Turn On the Lights,’ ‘Move That Dope,’ ‘Fuck Up Some Commas,’ ‘Where Ya At,’ ‘Jumpman,’ ‘Low Life,’ and ‘Mask Off.’
  • Future released his eponymous fifth studio album in February 2017. While his fans were reveling in the thrill of his new album, Future surprised them with his sixth studio album, titled ‘HNDRXX.’ Both albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Charts, making Future the first artist to premiere two albums at number one at the same time.

Major Projects

Despite the fact that Future’s career began in 2010, his first major success occurred in 2015, when he released his album DS2′ and a joint mixtape with Canadian rapper Drake titled ‘What a Time to Be Alive.’ Both albums were huge hits and did extraordinarily well. Future became the first rapper to have two number one albums in the same year when his albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, Billboard R&B Charts, and Billboard Hot Rap Songs.

Future stunned his fans in 2017 by releasing two albums within a week of each other, the first of which was his self-titled fifth album ‘Future,’ and the second of which was his sixth album titled ‘HNDRXX.’ Both albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Charts, making Future the first artist in history to have two albums debut at the top of the charts.

Achievements & Awards

  • Future has received a number of nominations in various categories at various award celebrations since his musical career took off. He and Drake received the Best Group award at the 2016 BET Awards.
  • Future has won two BET Hip Hop Awards, the first in 2014 for Best Club Banger for ‘Move That Dope.’ He earned the Best Mixtape award in 2015 for his mixtape ’56 Nights.’
