On Saturday, August 20, the Cherry Hill Police Department in New Jersey announced that Point Break actor Gary Busey had been detained on multiple counts of sex offenses.

These incidents, according to a police news release, took place at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, during the annual Monster Mania Conference.

According to the report, Cherry Hill Police handled reports about alleged s*x infractions from August 12 to August 14. On August 19, after conducting a preliminary investigation, authorities seized Busey. According to reports, Busey, 78, went to the Monster Mania Conference. The specifics of the sex crimes are still a secret.

Detailed allegations against Gary Busey

According to a tweet from the Cherry Hill Police Department, Gary Busey has been accused of three different sexual misconduct offenses. The actor was accused of engaging in two instances of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one instance of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree that was attempted, and one instance of harassing disorderly persons.

“During the event’s weekend, August 12–14, 2022, Cherry Hill Police responded to the Doubletree Hotel, 2349 West Route 70, for a report of a sex offense. Following the inquiry, on August 19, 2022, Gary Busey, 78, of Malibu, California, was charged by Cherry Hill Police Detectives.

If Gary Busey is found guilty of one count of harassment, he could spend up to thirty days in county jail as well as other punishments.

A no-contact order and other penalties could be imposed on him. However, there is a chance that this accusation could be elevated to the “simple assault” level following further investigation, which could result in harsher punishments and longer jail sentences.

On two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, which is a felony, Busey may spend up to 18 months in jail. The performer can also be subject to additional penalties because the offense is sexual.

The actor will be registered as a sex offender under Megan’s Law if proven guilty. According to the description of the case provided by The Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall, Gary Busey may be subject to a $10,000 fine in addition to an 18-month prison sentence for the prohibited attempt at sexual contact. The fine or other penalties may be raised when the illegal effort involved sexual contact.

Busey has not been found guilty of any crimes, although, in 2008, he did stir up some controversy. On VH1’s Celebrity Rehab 2, the actor allegedly got into a fight with other celebrities while receiving group therapy.

Busey had numerous conflicts on the show, and after one of them, it was necessary to “forcibly remove” him, according to the New York Post. Busey was involved in the production as a former drug user who had recovered after receiving treatment, per the description of the play.

In the episode, it was also revealed that Busey had been given a diagnosis at the time by psychiatrist Charles Sophy, who maintained that the actor’s impulsive conduct was caused by brain injury.

Busey agreed to take the medication when the psychiatrist suggested it. For his roles in movies like Predator 2, Lethal Weapon, and other titles, Busey is highly known. The actor’s most recent work was the 2021 feature film Reggie: A Millenial Depression Comedy.
