“This image evokes many wonderful memories of their early Journey.” They took us under their wing, and their chemistry with their audience paid off handsomely, as we always received strong encores in front of them. Gary Rossington amassed a fortune during his successful tenure with Lynyrd Skynyrd

Gary Rossington became well-known as a founding member of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. He contributed to the majority of their albums, allowing him to amass a sizable fortune from album sales. CelebrityNetWorth estimates Gary’s net worth to be around $40 million.

As a child, Rossington enjoyed playing baseball, which is how he met Jacksonville baseball players Ronnie Van Zant and Bob Burns. The trio met one afternoon and decided almost immediately to form The Noble Five, which was later renamed The One Percent and then Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s first album was released in 1973 and peaked at number 27 on the US Billboard 200. Other albums included Second Helping, Nuthin’ Fancy, Gimme Back My Bullets, Street Survivors, The Last Rebel, Twenty, Christmas Time Again, God & Guns, and others. The band also released Gimme Three Steps, Sweet Home Alabama, Saturday Night Special, That Smell, Truck Drivin’ Man, Smokestack Lightning, Preacher Man, Still Unbroken, Simple Life, and other hits.

In the 1980s, Gary formed the Rossington Collins Band with Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, Dale Krantz, Barry Lee Harwood, and Derek Hess. The band was active between 1979 and 1982. He also founded The Rossington Band, which lasted only three albums before disbanding in 1988.
