With the assistance of Gordon Getty, a rich heir, and close family friend, he founded the PlumpJack winery after receiving his degree. Among the 23 businesses managed by the PlumpJack Group are restaurants, lodging facilities, and wineries.

On October 10, 1967, Gavin Newsom was born into a family consisting of Tessa Thomas and William Alfred Newsom III, a lawyer for Getty Oil and a state appeals court judge. In San Francisco, California, he was raised. In 1972, when Newsom was a little kid, his parents divorced.
Pat Brown’s candidacy for district attorney was started by Gavin’s grandparents. Gavin’s family has a long history of political activity, which may have sparked his interest in politics.
In addition, Gavin is linked to his cousin, the renowned musician Joanna Newsom.

In January 2005, they jointly filed for divorce, citing “difficulties related to their employment on separate coasts” as the reason. Their divorce was finally completed on February 28, 2006.
Newsom began dating filmmaker Jennifer Siebel in September of 2006.
After announcing their engagement in December 2007, they were married in Stevensville, Montana, in July 2008. Together, they have four children.
Newsom and his family relocated to their new home in Kentfield, Marin County, in 2012 from San Francisco.
Following his election as governor, Newsom and his family moved into the California Governor’s Mansion in Downtown Sacramento and eventually resided in Fair Oaks.
